What is PokéBonk?

PokéBonk (often typed PokeBonk) is a free 3D survivor game that runs in the browser at pokebonk.com. You control one Kanto Pokémon on an open map while hordes of wild Pokémon close in. Your moves fire on their own; your job is to move, dodge, pick up experience and choose one upgrade card every time you level up. Pokémon evolve during the run, and every one of them has an Ultimate on the R key.

The game is a fan project by a solo developer who goes by Charcher, inspired by the survivor game Megabonk. Charcher announced it on October 14, 2026. Its legal page says it is free and non-profit: no ads, no purchases, no subscriptions and no donations. It is not affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Creatures or GAME FREAK, and the developer promises to remove content within 72 hours if the rights holders ask. Browser Game Hub is not affiliated with PokéBonk either.

All 151 Kanto Pokémon are in the game. 79 of them can join your League as playable partners; the rest are their evolutions, which you reach by levelling up in a run. You start with Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle and unlock the others through challenges and captures. When we checked on October 23, 2026, the game was at version 0.8.25 beta in Season 2, with four regions, a Survival mode and a Halloween event called Lavender Tower Night.

How to Play PokéBonk

  1. 1Open pokebonk.com on a computer or phone and pick your language at the top left. Press Play as a guest! to start without signing up. Your progress is saved on the game's server, tied to that device; a Cloudflare check may run for a few seconds first.
  2. 2Choose your partner: Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. It becomes the first member of your League. You can unlock the other two later.
  3. 3From the menu press Play, confirm your Pokémon with I choose you!, then pick a region, a mode and a difficulty. At first only Viridian Forest, Classic or Survival, and Normal are open.
  4. 4Move with WASD (or the left joystick on a phone). Your moves fire at enemies on their own. Collect the candies that defeated Pokémon drop to gain experience, and press E to open the Poké Balls on the map for items.
  5. 5Every level up, pick one of three cards: a new move, an upgrade for a move you have, or a vitamin that raises a stat. If none fits, use Refresh (F), Skip (X) or Banish (Z). You start each run with 2 Refreshes, 2 Skips and 1 Banish.
  6. 6In Classic, find the guardian's altar, press E to wake the guardian and defeat it to open the portal to the next zone. Three zones lead to the region's shrine and its legendary. Don't stay in one zone past 10:00: that starts the Final Swarm.
  7. 7Use your Ultimate with R when its ring is full. After a run, spend Stardust in the Lab, claim your daily tasks and check which Pokémon challenges you have finished.

PokéBonk Guides

It puts Pokémon into the survivor formula that Megabonk and Vampire Survivors made popular, and it runs in a browser tab. There is no download, no account wall and nothing to buy, so a link shared on Discord or YouTube turns straight into a run.

It has a lot of depth for a fan game nine days old: 79 playable Pokémon with their own passives and Ultimates, 126 run items, 26 vitamins, move fusions, four regions, a Survival mode, seasonal leaderboards and clans. Dexerto covered it on October 18, 2026.

The developer updates it almost every day. The in-game changelog lists 51 versions between October 17 and October 22, 2026, including Season 2, two new regions and a Halloween event.

Quick Start Tips for Beginners

  • Leave each zone before 10:00. At that point the Final Swarm starts, and it is built to end runs that stall.
  • Open Poké Balls early. Each paid Poké Ball costs more than the last (the first costs 18 PokéDollars, the second about 43), so buying them while they are cheap gets you more items.
  • Favour moves that share your Pokémon's type. Same-type moves deal 25% more damage, and items tied to your type show up four times as often.
  • Turn on Auto Ultimate with Y. It fires as soon as the Ultimate is charged and an enemy is close, which beginners forget to do by hand.
  • Do the three daily tasks. They pay Stardust for the Lab, where the cheapest upgrades (extra Refresh, Skip and Banish, Training, Stamina) cost under 150 Stardust each.
  • Play two runs with your starter early on. That completes the challenge for the other two starters, which you can then catch in a later run.
  • If the game stutters, check that hardware acceleration is on in your browser and try Settings → Graphics → Quality Low or Battery saver.
  • Guest accounts that go unused for 60 days are deleted. Press Save to account if you want to keep your League.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is PokéBonk free?

Yes. Its legal page says the game is free and non-profit, with no ads, purchases, subscriptions, donations or paid advantages. The developer pays the server costs.

Is PokéBonk an official Pokémon game?

No. It is an unofficial fan game by a developer called Charcher. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Creatures Inc. or GAME FREAK. The only official place to play it is pokebonk.com; other sites with PokeBonk in their name are guides, mirrors or clones.

Can I play PokéBonk on Android or iPhone?

Yes, in the phone's browser. Open pokebonk.com and the game switches to touch controls: a joystick on the left, drag to move the camera and buttons on the right. There is no app. The legal page says the game is not distributed as a download or in app stores, so a PokéBonk APK is not from the developer.

Can you play PokéBonk with friends?

Not in the same run: every run is single-player. You can add friends, join or found a clan (founding costs 2,000 Stardust) and compete on season leaderboards. Guests don't appear on leaderboards, so create an account for that.

Is PokéBonk down?

When too many players join at once the server can be slow or briefly unavailable; on October 22, 2026 alone the developer shipped four server updates for peak hours. If the page stays blank, the game shows a Retry button. Updates no longer disconnect you since version 0.8.18. The official Discord is the place to check for maintenance.

Why is PokéBonk lagging?

The most common cause is a browser not using the graphics card. The game detects this and tells you to turn on Use hardware acceleration when available in Chrome, Edge or Opera (Settings → System) and restart the browser. Lowering Quality, turning on Battery saver or Hide my attacks in Settings → Graphics also helps when the screen fills with effects.

Does PokéBonk save my progress?

Yes, on the game's server. As a guest, progress is tied to the device you play on; Save to account keeps everything and lets you log in elsewhere. Guest accounts unused for 60 days are deleted. If the browser closes mid-run, the run is saved when you come back.

How long is a PokéBonk run?

A Classic run is three zones plus the region's shrine fight. Each zone starts its Final Swarm at 10:00. On Normal, a win under 24:00 earns a Silver time-attack medal and under 13:30 the Champion medal. Survival has no end and gets much harder after minute 45.

What is the difference between PokéBonk and Megabonk?

Megabonk is a separate survivor game by vedinad that inspired PokéBonk. PokéBonk is not related to it: it is a free fan game with Kanto Pokémon, a League to unlock, evolutions and type matchups.
