How to Unlock Every Pokémon in PokéBonk

PokéBonk has 79 Pokémon you can unlock as playable partners: 17 Common, 36 Uncommon, 21 Rare and 5 Legendary. Together with their evolutions they cover all 151 Kanto Pokémon. Each one is unlocked in two steps: finish its challenge, then catch it when it appears in a later run.

Search the table for any Pokémon to see its exact challenge. Legendaries take the longest: Articuno needs 45 League members, Zapdos 50, Moltres 55 and Mewtwo 60, and Mew needs all the others.

How Unlocking Works

How unlocking works

Every League Pokémon except your starter has a challenge, such as "Complete 4 runs" for Pidgey or "Burn 6,000 Pokémon" for Vulpix. Progress counts across all your runs. Some rarer Pokémon also need a League of a certain size, and the legendary birds need region wins on Hard.

Finishing the challenge doesn't add the Pokémon yet. In a later run it appears as a wild encounter between 50 and 120 seconds into a zone, with the banner "Challenge complete: weaken it and capture it to add it to your League". Only one such encounter appears per run.

Knock it out, then get close and press E to throw a Poké Ball while it is weakened. The catch chance starts at 55% plus a bonus from the species' catch rate, rises 20% with every failed throw and gets +15% if the Pokémon is paralyzed, asleep or frozen, up to 97%. After three misses it runs away and comes back in another run. It also flees if you take longer than 150 seconds (240 for legendaries). A Master Ball from the Bag makes the catch certain.

Mewtwo and Mew

Mewtwo is the exception: once its challenge is done, it shows up as a separate fight in zone 2 or 3, and defeating it catches it automatically.

Mew needs every other League Pokémon: all 78 of them. It is the last unlock in the game.

All 79 League Pokémon in v0.8.25 (Season 2), from the game's own data. Finish every part of the challenge, then weaken and catch the Pokémon when it appears in a later run. A Pokémon marked with a shared type Ultimate uses its type's Ultimate until it gets its own.

PokéBonk Shiny Odds and Rewards

Each zone has an 8% chance to spawn a shiny Pokémon, rising to 16% with 80 or more luck. The shiny has 2.5 times the HP and leaves after 120 seconds, so go for it quickly. Catching it adds it to your collection and it fights beside you for the rest of the run; only one shiny can come along at a time.

Your first shiny of each species pays 120 Stardust, repeats pay 50. Owning a shiny of a family also unlocks the shiny look for that League Pokémon. Collection milestones add permanent perks: 2 shinies give +3 luck, 4 give +4% XP, 6 give the Shiny Charm (shinies appear 50% more often and stay 150 seconds), 10 give +3% damage and 15 let your shiny partner join with +20% damage.

The shiny-stone Bag item guarantees a shiny in zone 1, and legendary or boss encounters can also be shiny.
