Krillion Scoring: Tiers, Points, Depth Chart and Calculator

Updated

Every accepted Krillion answer lands in one of six tiers, from Plankton (10 points) to One in a Krillion (100 points). A missed prompt scores 0. Seven prompts give a maximum of 700 points, and every point sinks your diver 10 metres, so a perfect day ends on the trench floor at 7,000 m.

The tables below come from krillion.io itself: tier names and points from the game's scoring screen, score bands from its results screen and depth landmarks from the dive animation, re-checked on October 22, 2026. Use the calculator at the bottom to turn your tiers into a score, a depth and the shareable emoji line.

Tier names, points and score bands are taken from krillion.io (first checked October 12, re-checked October 22, 2026). Tiers are set by the developer in advance, not by a live vote: the official FAQ says rarity comes from a familiarity database of how often a word turns up in what people read and write, or from LLM help plus a manual pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Krillion scored?

Each accepted answer lands in one of six tiers: Plankton (10 points), Too Clever (15), Schooler (30), Rare (60), Deep Cut (85) or One in a Krillion (100). A missed prompt scores 0. Seven prompts give a maximum of 700 points.

How deep can you go in Krillion?

Every point sinks you 10 metres, so the maximum is 7,000 metres for a perfect 700-point dive. The game calls that depth the trench floor.

What is a good Krillion score?

The game's own bands call 251–350 Rare and 351 or more a Deep Cut dive; 450 or more is One in a Krillion. In our dives, 170 points beat 6% of that day's players and 440 points beat 96%, so anything above about 300 is a strong day.

What does "Too Clever" mean in Krillion?

The official FAQ describes Too Clever as the go-to "obscure" pick that isn't actually obscure. It is worth 15 points, only slightly more than Plankton.

How does Krillion decide which answers are rare?

According to the official FAQ, answer sets are built from dictionaries, wiki pages and encyclopedias. Some prompts are scored against a familiarity database of how often a word appears in what people read and write; others use LLM help and a manual pass. The One in a Krillion gem is also chosen for being fun to land on.
